Paul qualified as a dentist from Guy’s Hospital London in 1992, after which he lived for 3 years in Australia where he gained invaluable experience practicing dentistry for the Aboriginal Medical service, which was challenging but incredibly rewarding.
He has been the principle dentist at No.65 The Dental Surgery since 1998 and was delighted to welcome Mark Durnall as his partner at the practice in 2010. Throughout the course of his career, Paul has become highly experienced in all aspects of dentistry and continuously seeks to further his learning with advanced techniques and ongoing training with industry experts in both the UK and abroad.
He is passionate about providing an excellent standard of dental care, and has a strong belief that teeth should be kept for life. He believes that the patient-dentist relationship is extremely important and uses an intraoral camera and the latest digital X-rays to help patients understand their teeth and explain any necessary treatment.
Paul’s particular interests are in implant and cosmetic dentistry, which can radically transform a patient’s smile.
He has been placing implants since 2004 and finds this aspect of dentistry particularly rewarding because of the profound benefits implants can have on a patient’s self-confidence and quite simply their ability to enjoy food again! As a member of the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI), he has gained a vast amount of experience and ensures his skills and knowledge are cutting-edge by regularly attending advanced training courses in the UK, as well as further afield in Europe, South Africa and America. Paul is also highly experienced in the more complex grafting procedures that are sometimes required to place implants successfully.
Paul is highly experienced with implant dentistry, and uses various systems such as Dentium, Ankylos and Bicon. He has a special interest in the advantages of the Bicon short implant system. These are ultra short implants that require a minimally-invasive technique which is beneficial to the patient. Paul’s knowledge of the different implant systems enables him to select the appropriate one to suit each particular patient’s needs.
In 2013 he completed the Dawson Academy Core Curriculum which is an advanced American treatment philosophy based on occlusion (the way teeth fit together). This deepened his understanding and practice of the principles and skills for complete care in dental occlusion, the treatment of temporomandibular joint disfuntion ( jaw-joint problems) and comprehensive aesthetic restorative dentistry.
Paul is currently studying for a European Diploma in Implantology which is a 3 year course taught by some of the World’s leading experts on dental implants and will ensure that Paul has the widest possible knowledge base.
Paul embraces developments in new technology and deploys cutting-edge equipment such as dental lasers and 3D scanners which he uses to deliver the highest standards of treatment for his patients.
Aside from dentistry, Paul is a keen surfer, boatman and cyclist and enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons.

Sarah joined No.65 The Dental Surgery straight from school in 1987, and qualified as a dental nurse in 1989. Sarah has gained a wealth of experience over nearly 30 years at the practice and is a familiar face to many of our patients.
She has qualifications in dental radiography, conscious sedation, impression taking, a Diploma in Practice Management and is currently studying a teaching qualification so she can pass on her wealth of knowledge to others.
Sarah started out at the surgery as a trainee dental nurse after leaving school and soon became an integral part of the surgery, working with several different members of the team over the years.
With more than 20 years experience in this role she developed a wide range of knowledge and experience in all aspects of dentistry and the running the practice, and in 2008 became our practice manager, and is always happy to help by answering any questions that you may have about any aspect of your dental treatment, as well as dealing with the day to day smooth running of the practice.
When Sarah isn’t working at the surgery she can either be found ringing the bells at her local church for their services and of course for the frequent summer weddings, or tending to her bees which she keeps locally and she has even won prizes for her honey.
