Dental Crowns

Porcelain Crowns

Dental crowns are a very successful option for repairing cracked, broken, decayed or heavily-filled teeth. A crown completely covers the damaged tooth above the gum line and so protects it, as well as giving a great aesthetic result.

Crowns are employed in various dental procedures: they are also used to cover dental implants.

What are dental crowns made from?

We offer all-porcelain crowns. These are more natural-looking than the metal-based ones, and blend in beautifully with your other teeth.

How are dental crowns fitted?

It’s a pretty straightforward procedure. Firstly, the tooth to be crowned will be prepared, by shaping to the correct size, to ensure it’s the right size to fit a crown.

An impression of your mouth will be taken and sent to our dental laboratory, where the crown will be constructed (and don’t worry – we’ll fit you with a temporary crown until the permanent one is ready).

On your next visit, we’ll fit the crown and make any necessary adjustments, including double-checking that the colour matches. If the size and shade of the crown are correct then it will be bonded to the tooth.

The aesthetic results from crowns are excellent, and with good care should last many years.
