Dr Paul Baker BDS (Guy's London) 1992

Dr Paul Baker BDS (Guy's London) 1992

Paul qualified from Guy's Hospital London in 1992, and has been at No 65 The Dental Surgery since 1998. He initially joined Brian Galbraith as a partner, and took over as the principle in 2008. He is now pleased to welcome Mark Durnall as his new partner at the practice.

Paul is experienced in all aspects of dentistry. He is passionate about providing an excellent standard of dental care, and has a strong belief that teeth should be kept for life.

Paul is particularly interested in implant dentistry and cosmetic dentistry. As a member of the Association of Dental Implantology, he has gained a lot of experience, placing implants since 2004. He keeps his skills and knowledge cutting-edge by regularly attending postgraduate courses in the UK and abroad. He has a special interest in the advantages of the Bicon short implant system.

When not busy at the practice, Paul is a keen surfer and enjoys spending time with his young family.

Dr Mark Durnall BDS (U.Bristol) 2000, DPDS

Dr Mark Durnall BDS (U.Bristol) 2000, DPDS

Mark has always said that Dentistry is his hobby! He is passionate about dentistry, and hopes that this shows in his work. He is continually pushing himself to advance his skills and keep up with the latest technologies. Mark believes that trust is the most important part of the relationship between dentist and patient, and as such he uses digital imagery to help explain treatment.

Mark graduated from Bristol University in 2000. In 2005 he became one of the first practitioners in the UK of Clearstep the invisible brace. In 2006 he completed a three-year diploma in postgraduate dental studies, which had special interests in oral surgery, sedation and prosthetics. In 2008 he became a full member of the BACD, the British Association of Cosmetic Dentists. Also in 2008, he finished the General Implant Forum and Training (GIFT) implant course run by Warwick University and has great interest in the advantages of the Ankylos implant system. In 2009 he began his studies into occlusion with the Dawson clinic from the United States. In 2010 Mark hopes to expand the Implant side of the practice with Paul, providing implant dentistry to local dentists and their patients.

Mark's main focus has been on adhesive and aesthetic dentistry. Adhesive dentistry allows him to be much more conservative in preserving teeth. Aesthetic dentistry is restoring teeth to their former glory, using tooth-coloured materials - no more grey mercury fillings! Mark focuses on the whole mouth rather than the "patch and repair" dentistry of old. This gives more predictability and reliability to the treatment, and you more confidence.

Mark moved to Cornwall with his wife Stella in January 2008. In 2009 he cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats in twelve days in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. He enjoys playing golf, and getting outside to enjoy Cornish life to the full. He joined Paul as a partner in 2010 and hopes to continue to develop No65 with him over many years.
